Abstract
Sound pollution is a serious human health problem today. It affects to modern societies, having a direct relationship with economic activity of population. Chimbote city is no stranger with this situation. In order to get information about urban noise, were 24 sampling points determined, processing information for 3 months at each point, following the protocols of the Ministry of Environment of Peru. Working hours were done in two schedules, in the morning (8: 00-10: 00) and in the afternoon (17: 00-21: 00), being known as rush and plaque hour on the cities of Lima, Medellin and Mexico. Chimbote urban area is a commercial area where according to the MINAM, it represents an ECA of 70 dB. Results allowed in the morning exceed on 87.5% the allowed limit and in the afternoon seems happen the same, increasing to 91.6%. Only points 17 and 18 present values below 70 dB. Values higher than 75 dB have been obtained both in the morning and in the afternoon, representing the 20.8% and a 33.8% respectively. José Pardo and José Gálvez avenues are the noisiest in the city where vehicular traffic is the main cause, followed by ambulatory trade and commercial stores, also performed the goodness of fit test were realised, determining that the evaluated values responded to a normal distribution and obeyed a parametric curve.
